Hotel Review: Hotel Jules et Jim in Paris

in Hotel Reviews, Tips

For my recent trip to Paris, I booked two nights at the Hotel Jules et Jim on Avenue de Gravilliers in the Marais neighborhood of Paris. Two years ago I rented an apartment in the same area and I like the location’s convenient proximity to the sights of Paris. The closest Paris metro stop is Arts & Métiers. Condé Nast recently named the hotel to its hot list of new hotels for 2013.

The Hotel Jules et Jim is a small boutique property with 23 rooms located on a narrow one-way side street. From the outside, the hotel doesn’t look like much. But once you enter through the unassuming door, you pass through a hallway to the small front desk and it becomes apparent this is a unique and distinctive hotel. Behind the desk is the door to the outdoor courtyard, which is the main area of the hotel. The decor and furnishings have a simple, modern design style. While some of the rooms are on the street side of the hotel, the rest are located in two small buildings built inside the courtyard. The rooms on the top floor have great views of Paris. The hotel bar (where the breakfast is also served), is off of the courtyard with outdoor seating.

The Rooms

My room was off of the courtyard. It was a good size and included a queen bed and a large bathroom with a great shower. The style of the room was modern with a very comfortable feel. The bathroom featured nice Molton Brown bath products. Room rates start around €200 per night (€230 during peak season). Breakfast can be added for €18 per day. The daily spread was delicious with fresh bread, croissants, cheese, eggs, and espresso.

TripBadger Recommendation

I will definitely stay at the Hotel Jules et Jim again. It’s the perfect place if you’re looking for a small luxury boutique hotel in the hip Marais area of Paris. While Paris has many hotels from which to choose, this one is definitely worth a visit for its modern design aesthetic and fun, relaxed vibe.
