Virgin America is adding an elite level component to its Elevate frequent flyer program starting August 8, 2012. It will be based on status points earned in a calendar year and have two status levels, Elevate Silver and Elevate Gold. To qualify for Elevate Silver, Elevate members must earn at least 20,000 Elevate status points per year. Elevate Gold requires a minimum of 50,000 Elevate status points. Program members earn 5 status points per dollar spent on Virgin America tickets, as well as points equal to miles flown on Virgin America’s partners, Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia. Virgin America Visa Signature cardholders earn 10,000 bonus Elevate status points after spending $25,000 or more in a year.
