Review of the United MileagePlus® Club Card

The newly rebranded United has partnered with Chase to offer an additional card option alongside the United MileagePlus Explorer Card.  The United MileagePlus® Club Card offers cardmembers access to United Clubs at airports, Premier Access priority airport services, free first and second checked bags, and no foreign transaction fees.  Chase is not offering bonus miles for new card applicants at this time, but does provide a $100 statement credit (after first purchase).

The annual fee for this card ($395) is actually lower than the cost of an annual United Club membership ($500 for general members), so applying for this card is an easy decision for those who already pay for United Club membership, especially considering all the additional benefits this card offers, including 1.5 miles per dollar on all purchases (a rarity).  Current United Club members who apply for the card will receive reimbursement for the unused portion of membership fees once approved for the card.

Other perks of the United Club card include automatic Platinum status in Hyatt’s Gold Passport program and entitlement to cardmember-only benefits and amenities at more than 700 of the world’s finest hotels, resorts and spas.
