Stumptown Coffee Roasters

Every trip to Portland, Oregon should include a stop at Stumptown Coffee Roasters. Founded in 1999, the company operates a small number of coffee shops in and around the city, as well as two locations in Seattle and one in New York City. Stumptown has gained recognition for its perfectly roasted beans and excellent flavor. In 2003, the Portland Business Journal said [Stumptown] is, “revolutionizing the coffee business and refining coffee drinkers’ palates.” The company is known for its pursuit of the best coffee beans, and staff members personally visit farms around the world, often paying more than the fair trade price for beans.

Tripbadger’s favorite Stumptown is located in the lobby of Portand’s Ace Hotel. There you can enjoy an excellent latte in the hotel’s relaxed lobby among locals and soak up the chill Portland Pacific Northwest vibe.

TripBadger Tip: Stumptown’s popularity is spreading, with restaurants and cafés across the country brewing its coffee. In Washington, DC, Cork Market & Tasting Room located at 1805 14th Street, NW makes excellent lattes with Stumptown beans. TripBadger would love to see a Stumptown location open in Washington, DC.
