United and Marriott Team Up to Offer Recipricol Elite Status

United Airlines and Marriott have teamed up to offer recipricol elite status for members of their frequent traveler programs under a new program called RewardsPlus. The partnership will enable those who qualify to enjoy a seamless elevated airline and hotel experience around the world.

Now United MileagePlus Premier Gold, Premier Plantinum, Premier 1K, and Global Services members will receive complimentary Marriott Gold status. United Premier Silver members do not qualify for this benefit. More information is available on United’s website.

Marriott Rewards Platinum Elite and Premier Platinum Elite members will recieve complimentary United MileagePlus Premier Silver status. These are the only elite levels in the Marriott Rewards program eligible for this offer. More information is available on Marriott’s website.

Qualifying United MileagePlus elites will enjoy the following as Marriott Rewards Gold members:

  • Lounge access and breakfast at select Marriott locations
  • Room upgrades
  • Prority late check-out
  • Free wifi
  • 25 percent bonus points
  • Coming soon: United MileagePlus miles/Marriott Rewards points coversion benefits

Qualifying Marriott Rewards elites will enjoy the following as United Premier Silver members:

  • Access to United Economy Plus seating at check-in
  • United Premier Access priority airport services
  • 25 percent bonus MileagePlus miles for each flight
  • Complimentary first checked bag (up to 50 lbs)
  • Complimentary Premier upgrades
  • Coming soon: United MileagePlus miles/Marriott Rewards points coversion benefits

Bottom line:

Qualifying United and Marriott elites should definitely register for this great offer. I’ve heard some travelers have encountered trouble linking their United MileagePlus and Marriott Rewards accounts, so be sure to monitor your accounts and call your respective elite line if you have problems.
