On my last full day in New Mexico at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort, I spent the morning by the pool under clear blue skies. In the afternoon, I ventured to Old Town Albuquerque. The old town center is preserved with numerous shops and restaurants. A highlight of the old town area is the San Felipe de Neri Church, the oldest building in the city, which was built in 1793. After touring downtown, I headed to Vernon’s Hidden Steakhouse upon recommendation of the Hyatt Tamaya concierge. The restaurant is one of Albuquerque’s finest, and it is a 1920s speakeasy-themed restaurant north of the city center. The door is unmarked and guests need a password to get inside (although I did not have mine and after a little badgering by the in-character bouncer, they let me in). The restaurant has excellent steaks and seafood. Although pricey, it is definitely worth it for the great food and atmosphere.
My meal at Vernon’s was a great way to wrap up three perfect days in New Mexico. I will definitely be back soon for a longer stay to further explore enchanting New Mexico and its many diverse destinations and attractions.
